Our Mission

The Lone Star Circle of Life is a not-for-profit organization that provides information and education on blood donation, marrow and stem cell donation, and organ and tissue donation. Our purpose is to increase the number of blood, marrow or stem cell, organ and tissue donors in Texas which will save lives.

The Lone Star Circle of Life Bike Tour -a team of about a dozen cyclists travel throughout the state on a six-day tour to educate Texans about the need for life-saving donations. The riders have either have been donors themselves, received a donation, have a family member who has been a donor or recipient or have been supporters of donation for many years.

The Need

Approximately 114,000 men, women and children of all ages & backgrounds are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. That’s more than there are seats available in the largest football stadium in the United States

Registering to become a donor records your donation decision. Your generosity can save as many as 8 lives through organ donation, bring sight to others with cornea donations and improve yet another 75 lives or more through tissue donation. It takes only moments, yet means a second chance of a lifetime.

By joining the Donate Life Texas Registry, you give hope to thousands of people awaiting the transplant they need to survive.

One out of every 20 Texans will need blood at some point of their lives. Texans who are at least 16 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds may be a blood donor.

The process for donating blood usually takes about one hour with the collection itself usually lasting only about 10 minutes.  That hour of your time could save a life!

Visit Americasblood.org to find a community blood donation center near you.

Currently, there are over 750 patients in Texas searching the Be The Match Registry for a matched donor.  Nearly half of those in need will not find a match on time.

Joining the registry, however, is easy.  Those joining the registry must be between the ages of 18 and 40 and in good general health.

Visit BeTheMatch.org to find out how to join the Be The Match Registry.  YOU could be the match that saves a life.
